New drug discovery technologies, greater biomolecular understanding of disease, and manufacturing advances are powering progress across a range of modalities – from molecular glues and protein degraders, pushing the boundaries of what was thought possible in small molecules, to cell therapies expanding into solid tumors and even autoimmune diseases. It is hard not to get excited about the potential suite of effective therapies available for physicians and patients in the not-too-distant future.
Of course, there are obstacles to overcome. Can leaders demonstrate value to investors in today’s capital-constrained environment? Can the field find a way for different modalities to coexist as part of a mixed ecosystem? Can advanced therapies embrace manufacturability- and access-by-design models?
Here, we applaud, celebrate, and cheer on the individuals working hard, pushing boundaries, and inspiring others to find the answers.
